While I’ve talked about this in the past, it seems as if it’s finally time to make it official–I am on a sabbatical from publishing. My last release was THE SCANDALOUS WIDOW in 2018. As of September 2022, this post has been updated to reflect my current thoughts.

Here are some common questions I’ve answered:
1. πΎπππ ππππ πππ ππ πππππππππ ππππ πππππ? π·πππππππππππ, πππ ππππ πͺπππππ π―ππππππππ ππππ?
I’m genuinely not sure. I lost a lot of the joy that came with writing, and while I’m slowly making my way back to a headspace in which I can create with less anxiety, I don’t know when that will happen, and I don’t feel comfortable making promises I can’t keep. I’m chronically ill (fibromyalgia) so it takes longer for me than most people to write a book, and it’s harder to project end times. My husband and I are also in the process of adopting our first child, a truly fantastic daughter, so most of my time is spent being her mom. Currently, my priorities are in order: my family, my pets, my editing job, and then writing.Β
Because so much time has gone by since I first publishedΒ I Spy a DukeΒ in 2015, I no longer feel that continuing the Covert Heiresses series as I initially promised it would make sense. I am a very different person now, living a very different life than I had in 2015, so obviously, my writing is going to be different too. I have basic ideas for Korianna, Arden, and Elinor’s books, but I’ve got to be honest with you–I have struggled immensely trying to flesh out these books and put finger to word processing program, so to speak. Because writing is no longer my primary focus and my time is so limited, I have decided that if I do return to writing, I’m going to focus on what most inspires me at that current time. As such, I will no longer be making any promises aboutΒ what books I’m releasing andΒ when.Β It’s not fair to readers when I can’t give them a release date, and it’s not fair to me to add extra stress.
I am immensely sorry then to have to disappoint people who have waited patiently for Covert Heiresses to continue. My muse is fickle, and I just can’t seem to get a handle on this spy world for now. If I do write those books, they will most likely be in a new series that connects back to the I Spy a Duke world.
I want to thank every single one of you delightful readers who have expressed love and concern for me and who have left reviews and sent me awesome notes about my books. I appreciate y’all so much. Many of you have told me you’ll happily wait until I publish another book, and that means the world to me.

Around 2019, I made the change from virtual assistant to freelance editor through my business Quillfire Author Services, and you guys, I could not possibly feel more blessed than I do to get to work with such amazing authors. Copyediting has given me the joy, balance, and freedom I was looking for in publishing. So yes, I’m doing awesome.
My husband and I also made a big step toward accomplishing a huge goal for our family: we became licensed to foster kids in the state of North Carolina as of August 2021. We received word in March 2022 that we were the pre-adoptive placement for a fantastic, sassy, caring girl, and we are so proud now to call her our daughter. As we head toward adopting her, we are focusing on building our new family. This has obviously taken up a lot of our time.

πππππππ, π° ππππππ ππππππ ππππ ππππππ–thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you to my readers, to my fellow authors who have helped me in the past. When I was writing, I accomplished A LOT, and I feel really good about that journey. It’s why I’m saying farewell for now, but not for all time. I’m definitely not ready to permanently stop writing–just taking a break.
Thank you!
